Uppsala University – Uppsala Conflict Data Programme (UCDP)

The Uppsala Conflict Data Programme (UCDP) collects information on a large number of aspects of armed violence since 1946. After a period of trials the Conflict Data Project was properly established at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research in the mid-1980s. The definitions of conflict are designed so as to pick up the same phenomenon across time as well as across space, in order to make the data useful for systematic studies of the origins of conflict, conflict dynamics and conflict resolution.
