Freedom House (FH) is an independent non-governmental organization that supports, through analysis, advocacy and action, nonviolent civic initiatives in societies where freedom is denied or under threat. 

Freedom in the World is Freedom House’s flagship publication.  It is a comparative assessment of global political rights and civil liberties.  Published annually since 1972, the survey includes ratings and narrative reports on 193 countries and 15 related and disputed territories.

The Freedom of the Press index is an annual survey of media independence in 195 countries and territories. The annual index contains data on global media freedom, assessing the degree of print, broadcast, and internet freedom in every country in the world, analysing the events of each calendar year.
