Child Mortality Estimates (CME)

Child Mortality Estimates Info (CME) is a web-based database management application to create estimate-based charts on child mortality indicators and manage underlying data. Developing Child Mortality estimates poses a considerable challenge because of the limited data available for many developing countries and lack of agreement on the best way to calculate infant and child mortality levels and trends. In response, experts at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), The World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Population Division (UNPD) and members of the academic community joined together in 2004 to form the Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation. Child Mortality Estimates (CME) provide data for the under-five mortality rate (U5MR) and the infant mortality rate (IMR).
