World Press Freedom Day

On World Press Freedom Day 2012 the Mo Ibrahim Foundation congratulates Cape Verde on having the highest score in Africa for freedom of expression. Freedom of expression is one of 86 indicators used in the Ibrahim Index of African Governance. Structure of the Index

Cape Verde has also shown the greatest improvement in score between 2006 and 2010 for this indicator. The indicator gathers data from four different sources to assess this key aspect of governance. View this and other data in the Ibrahim Index.

New scholarship with the University of Birmingham

Eric Chinje has joined the Foundation as Director of Communications

Eric is joining the Foundation after 20 years at The World Bank, where he most recently launched the successful IMAGE (Independent Media for Accountability, Governance and Empowerment) Network and Programme to build a corps of development journalists across Africa.

Eric headed the External Affairs and Communications departments of the World Bank (Africa Region) and the African Development Bank and was formerly Editor-in-Chief at Cameroon TV. He currently sits on the Board of the African Media Initiative (AMI) and is a founding co-Convener of the African Media Leaders Forum (AMLF).

Mo Ibrahim guest edits Radio 4's The Today Programme

Mo Ibrahim was guest editor of Radio 4's The Today Programme on Tuesday 27 December. The programme focused on governance, investment and economic growth in Africa and Dr. Ibrahim set out his vision for Africa. More information here
