The Foundation recently launched the fifth Ibrahim Index of African Governance. The Index shows that countries that pursue a balanced approach to governance achieve the most success. Talking about the Index, Mo Ibrahim said "We have seen this year that Africa's young majority are no longer willing to stand for the selective approach to governance adopted by many of our continent's governments. Our young people are demanding a holistic, equitable and inclusive approach to the management of their countries". Press releases for each African country and other resources are available here.
President Pedro Verona Pires was also recently announced the winner of the 2011 Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership. The Prize Committee said it was greatly impressed by President Pedro Pires's vision in transforming Cape Verde into a model of democracy, stability and increased prosperity.
